If I'm going to ask others to share a great memory, well then, it is only fair that I begin and share one of mine with you.
It was December of 2006 and my lover invited me to spend the weekend with him at his house. We had done a lot of discussing about desires and fantasies, so we had a lot of territory that we could cover.

My husband and I are a few years out from retirement, but have started thinking about where we want to be. I always thought that I would live in the house I own until my death. It would be a place for my to come home to and to share their past with their . Increasingly, we're seeing obstacles to that dream.
For one, there are too many steep stairs. In our thirties, those stairs were easy to run up and down. I thought about redesigning the downstairs so that there was first floor master bedroom and a full bath. It just is not a feasible solution. Plus, there is a second issue, taxes have skyrocketed in the twenty years we have lived here. And, taking care of the house and land is ridiculous.
Last winter and the fridget temperatures helped me to convince my husband that Florida was a good alterative for us. He worried though about the humidity. Well, we just returned from Alaska and the Pacific Northwest and he wants me to research the Portland OR/Vancouver WA area. So far, the Vancouver burbs are looking desirable.
So, how much square footage do two old geezers realistically need?

Always leave extra time for getting through TSA. I have always, and I have always just sailed through, until this time. Traveling as a party of three; my husband was inexplicably granted pre-check status, my was pre-selected for the full TSA treatment, and I went through the normal screening but FAILED, so I was wanded and pulled aside to be hand patted down.
We attempt to travel light, but due to some medical conditions, our carry ons are not your normal bags full of clothes (we check all of that). Instead, one bag is a compression pump and associated materials, the second bag is all the medications and paraphenelia needed for the duration of the trip, as well as, my 's personal stuff (iPad, books, binoculars, etc...), and the third bag is the redundent medical bag and my personal stuff.
TSA does not understand the concept of family unit. They want each person to have their own bag and in it their own belongings. I almost caused an airport lock down, when I passed my his passport from my bag. I may be a control freak, but I don't routinely misplace important documents (like some others in my family), so I keep control of passports, tickets, etc... whenever we travel as a family unit.
We finally arrived at the gate as they announced that they would be beginning the pre-boarding process. My husband realized he didn't have the compression pump. Although he was given pre-check status, he had opted to go through the line and wait with our . In all the confusion of taking off shoes, watches, emptying pockets, etc.... He had placed the pump on the coveyer belt to be x-rayed, but did not retrieve it on the other side. He runs back to get it and it is now treated as "unattended" luggage and it gets hand inspected and chemical tested.
While he was off doing that, the gate agent makes an announcement that my needs to come to the pedestal with his passport. No idea what that was about, but they reprinted his boarding pass and kept the original. Then when we went to board, the scan was refused and required that the agent manually enter 2 out of 3 of us (I was okay).
All I can say is I needed the glass of wine I had onboard. It was 10:30 PM and I had been up since 4:30 AM. I was still looking at a 5+ hour flight and 2-3 hour limo ride home. The two days melded into one. Still haven't fully recovered.

5:18 AM Greetings World. It is going to be a very long day. My suitcases are packed, my papers in order, and all sorts of adventures await me. It is 61degrees at the moment in my home town, and 57 degrees at my primary destination. However, the forecast is 99 degrees for this afternoon at another one of my other destinations.
Packing was a nightmare. Formal attire acceptable, as are hiking clothes. Gloves and a hat suggested, but so was a bathing suit. Layering reccommended, and I expect to do that. Planes, trains, ship, boat, car, taxi, and bus it will take to get me through this bit of relaxation.
5:36 AM They are still partying the night away where I'm going. When I arrive there tonight it will tomorrow morning here. Perhaps my body is already on their time? Nah, I'm on a time zone already past.

Hoarder Aboard

In general, I am truly against the concept of hoarding things for another time. Yet, with that said, my practices don't always follow my beliefs. On the other hand, I will sometimes save things and then rashly dispose of them in a moment of cleansing.
Parting with letters, emails, and texts has become the most difficult for me. I have a deep seeded want to preserve emotions and revisit them as they were, rather than how I remember them being.
A few months ago, I met a man with whom I quickly became enraptured with. We became "pen pals" and shared some of our deepest thoughts in a very short time. My email account is filled with pages of his letters. Recently though, we've drifted apart. I noticed he was no longer checking out my blog (although he has visited the community). His letters have gotten increasingly more infrequent. I know it's time to stop hoarding the letters (and subsequently the emotions), yet I have held onto them.
I know that some morning I will wake up and delete all of his emails, eradicationg all signs of him from my existance. And then, a day or so later, I will regret that move.
